Press Release: Bayelsa Book & Craft Fair


The city of Yenogoa is ready to host the world. 

This time, it is happening same time as the AMAA. Occupying an exceptional cultural location, Yenogoa is multilingual and cosmopolitan. It has deep roots of the rich past, with a strong tradition of literature, craft and art. This is reflected in the dress sense of the people. There is colour and total beauty to it.
BLUES & HILLS, the arts consultancy, in collaboration with ALL MEDIA INTERNATIONAL, in conjunction with the Bayelsa State Culture & Tourism Bureau welcome you to the first edition of Bayelsa Book & Craft Fair from the 24 – 26th March. 

"We will share in the joys of creativity, with craft-makers exhibiting their works and
booksellers making sure every book sell. The publishers who are looking for raw and promising talents will meet authors and their manuscripts! There will be creative writing workshops. However, only registered participants will be allowed to take part. Filmmakers will speak about films, politicians, like Dele Momodu will talk about the books they’ve read and visual artists will draw from their experiences too. One of the world’s highest paid flutists, Tee Mac Iseli will exclusively speak about classical music and jazz and do some salsa," says Fair Director, Onyeka Nwelue.
 
Invited guests and speakers are some of the greatest contemporary writers and great thinkers to Bayelsa: Professors Damian Opata, Kanchana Ugbabe, Akachi Adimora Ezeigbo and Dr. Agabus Nwachukwu. Other living legends are: Mobolaji Adenubi, Odia Ofeimun and Wale Okediran. One of our finest critics, Toyin Akinosho will headline a lot of panels and writers, Jude Dibia, Toni Kan, Eghosa Imasuen, Joy Bewaji, Jumoke Verissimo, Adelakun Adunni Abimbola won’t disappoint us. The young authors, Binyerem Ukonu and others will launch their books too. Then Nigeria’s James Blunt, Johanel will lead us into a world of bliss with his guitar and sonorous voice. 

Sage Hasson will send the writers away in the evening and give us a tongue-lashing spoken word. And then, we will tell the world how intellectually stimulated we are without even realizing that. At the long last, I say, Expand Your World. Read a Book. This is an order!
