Please treat as urgent...

Hi.

Please check and attend to this as soon as possible. And please spread the news.

Voices Of 2011 is a project coordinated by a group of young Nigerians who want to by any way legally and morally possible, get as many young Nigerians to register, vote and participate in the overall 2011 elections process as explained in the RSVP concept.

R- Register to vote

S- Select a Credible Candidate

V- Vote on the set dates

P- Protect your vote

Voices Of 2011 is primarily concerned with the ‘S’ of the ‘RSVP’. Simply put, we want to help you select the right people to vote for in the 2011 elections. No, we will not tell you who to vote; we are a neutral group. We will only provide the platform for you to choose for yourself.

Now this is how the whole thing works:

1.      Get your phone/camera/video recorder/laptop or any media device that can make a video with good audio quality. The visual quality need not be as good.

2.      Start recording a video of yourself (or get a friend to do it). Try not to exceed three minutes.

3.      Say who you are and ask say two or three questions to a particular political aspirant. A maximum of one question per politician will do.

4.      End the video by asking other young people to upload their own videos on YouTube tagging it with #RSVP, #VoicesOf2011 and the name of the politician(s) you are asking.

5.      Upload the video on YouTube and tag it with #RSVP, #VoicesOf2011 and the name of the person(s) you just asked questions.

6.      Spread the news. Tell your friends and family to do the same.

Shikena!

The VoicesOf2011 group will then get as many politicians as possible to answer these questions themselves!  You will then be able to decide whom to or not to vote, judging from the manner in which the questions are answered and also depending on their pedigrees. We will notify you as soon as the videos with the answers are uploaded.

As much as we may want to believe that there is no reason to vote or that our votes will not count, we also have to consider that the lesser the names in the voters’ register and the more unused ballot papers there are, the more the chances of election rigging and victory of the wrong people. Besides, only when we vote, can we morally have the right to criticize whoever is in power when he/she does wrong (that is, protecting our votes).

So, stop reading this now and go make a video.

REGISTER. SELECT. VOTE. PROTECT
